Sometimes, one must accomplish the impossible.
Beneath the mountain, the king’s reign of tyranny is absolute; the one troll with the capacity to challenge him is imprisoned for treason. Cécile has escaped the darkness of Trollus, but she learns all too quickly that she is not beyond the reach of the king’s power. Or his manipulation.
Recovered from her injuries, she now lives with her mother in Trianon and graces the opera stage every night. But by day she searches for the witch who has eluded the trolls for five hundred years. Whether she succeeds or fails, the costs to those she cares about will be high.
To find Anushka, she must delve into magic that is both dark and deadly. But the witch is a clever creature. And Cécile might not just be the hunter. She might also be the hunted…
After everything that happened in the first book,Stolen Songbird,i hope that what will happen next will be amazing and something mind-blowing.Well,it wasn't exactly mind-blowing,but i can honestly admit that it was something worth reading. It had a lot of surprises -those were the ones that made me read the same sentences twice or more, because i couldn't believe what was happening.
Anyway..In this book Cecile is trying to do anything she can to find Anushka, the witch who cursed the trolls .meanwhile Tristan is a prisoner in Trollus, being treated like traitor, like someone who wasn't worth anything-because he saved Cecile's life and many more things..(Read Stolenbird if you want to know more!).But the impossible happens and then the fun begins.
I admited from the beginning that Cecile and Tristan's story was amazing and it was a great adventure ,full of magic ,impossible but possible things and ,of course, trolls.Well, those of you who thought that trolls are ugly, stupid and horrbile creatures,i suggest you read this series and you might end up falling in love with a troll, like i did.
It was impossbile for me not to like the story. Why?Because it had everything that i searched and hoped for, besides when it comes to books about fairies i can't say no to them, even if it was about trolls.I'm not sure why i keep repeating that.Huh.
Prepare yourself for:Betrayal.True love.Magic.Trolls.Humans..And the last:The beginning of war.
This time i got the chance to see another side of both Tristan and Cecile. Those parts of them whom were desperate and determined to do everything in their powers to help and do everything that it was needed to do,but at the same time i got the chance to see how easily the blamed themself for something that they didn't do.And that was something i didn't like at all..
Cecile's character improved a little, but only when it came to magic..The rest? She was the same girl from Stolen Songbird, only now she was more determined and a little desperate.Every step she made was a brave one,but there were moments when she risked too much.Well, after all it was worth it,right?Cecile was the same brave, fierce and stubborn young woman whose life was constantly changing step by step.In this book she showed her strenght and what she was capable. And i really liked what i've read about her.
Tristan? He never dissapointed me and i knew he won't dissapoint me now.Charming as always, even if he was in a bad situation.Always thinking about the others, even when he was suffering. The type of character who put everyone else life first-and i kind of hated him a little for that.Well, not for trying to save Cecile every time, but for the fact that he never thought about himself. But i gotta admit that despite what i wrote above,i still think that Tristan is the best.
But..I loved to read about them. They were good together and a good team against Anushka. The tension between them was high, mainly when something bad happened or something one of them didn't want to happen. It was fun,but in a way i disliked some scenes because of that.
It seems that in this book the king,Thibault,Tristan's father, wasn't such a big problem like i thought.Yeah,he was always present and doing something bad,but the fact that he started to lose his power was the best thing on this book!Yey!But now the bigger problem is Angoulême,the troll who wanted everything. And Genevive,Cecile's mother?I never expected her to have such a big role in all this story! She was nasty and horrible..But still.
Well,i liked this story and what happened.Like i said above it was full of surprises, but the end of the book was the one who made me want to read the next book ASAP!
